Change any icon as you please: flip to the skin you want, hit Download PNG, and you get a 1024px master. To put it on an app, re-add that web app to your Home Screen (iOS uses whatever tile it sees at add-time), or make a Shortcut that opens the URL and set its image to the file. The auto-shift only works on true native apps that ship light and dark variants for iOS Automatic appearance, a home-screen web tile stays fixed once added.
